Tyre Ellison was born July 8, 1990 and hails from San Fransisco, California like several of his Cal Bears football teammates.

Tyre Ellison played for Burton High School and was a versatile athlete on both sides of the ball. As a safety, Tyre Ellison made 75 tackles and 4 interceptions. On the other side of the ball, Tyre Ellison completed 30 catches for 621 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Tyre Ellison's versatility extended to other sports. He did well at basketball and track and even earned an award that recognized him as a strong role model for young athletes.

Tyre Ellison redshirted in 2008.
