Skylar Curran hails from Woodland, California. He was born to Steve and Sherry Curran on September 7, 1987 and he attended Woodland High School, graduating in 2005.

Though Skylar Curran performed well during his high school career, he opted to play in a regional all-star game after high school graduation...and shattered his ankle. Unfortunately, that meant red-shirting his 2005 junior college season at Butte Community College.

Despite this set-back, Skylar Curran came back strong in 2006. He completed 15 catches for 155 yards and a touchdown during that season. After a mid-year transfer to the Cal Bears in January 2007, Skylar Curran spent the spring training with the football team and adjusting to the new coaching staff. Though he saw little action that fall, he was part of the Cal Bears traveling team and participated in a few late season games.

By 2008, Skylar Curran was coming into his own. He had to fight to play at his position, but did see playing time and performed fairly well.
