Shane Vereen hails from Valencia, California and graduated from Valencia High School in June 2007. During his senior year of high school footbal action, Shane Vereen recorded 982 rushing yards, 20 touchdowns plus 28 passes caught for 455 yards.

In 2008, Shane Vereen was the first back-up for runningback Jahvid Best. He still earned 715 yards on the ground and averaged an impressive 5 yards on each carry.
