Marvin Jones was born on March 12, 1990 and his hometown is Etiwanda, California. Father, Marvin Jones Sr., wrestled at the collegiate level at nearby Cal State Bakersfield.
Marvin Jones attended Etiwanda High School and graduated after a great football career. He weighed in as a 4-star recruit, according to Scout.com, and was also placed as the 23rd best receiver in the country.
Accolades soon followed Marvin Jones' performances. He was a SuperPrep Magazine All-America choice and had the opportunity to play in the Offense Defense All-American Bowl in Florida.
After graduation, Marvin Jones headed off to the Cal Bears in 2008. He was practicing during a bye week when he suffered a knee injury and had to sit out until December. By season's end, he had played in five games with one catch totaling eight yards.
In 2009, Marvin Jones started all 12 contests. He 12 made 38 catches, totaled 607 receiving yards and made six touchdown receptions. All of these stats put him, like his jersey, number 1 on the team.
