Jahvid Best hails from Vallejo, California and graduated from Salesian High School. As a high school football player, Jahvid Best was ranked as the 18th best running back in the U.S. He was also a top-notch sprinter, running the 200 meter dash in a mere 20.65 seconds and the 100 in 10.31.
As a true freshman with the Cal Bears in 2007, Jahvid Best really stood out. He was a first-team Pac-10 selection and earned the Cal Bears Most Valuable Freshman award.
In 2008, Jahvid Best was ranked 3rd in the country in rushing with an average of 131.67 yards per game. He also made the school record for rushing and was the offensive MVP.
In the 2009 off season, Jahvid Best went through surgery and missed most practices. However, he is training throughout the summer and expects to be back and better than ever for 2009.
