Donovan Edwards hails from Pleasant Hill, California and he graduated from Pinole Valley High School--the same high school as former Cal safety Thomas DeCoud.

After high school graduation, Donovan Edwards decided to play on the Diablo Valley Community College team for a year. He did not allow a single sack in 2007.

In 2008, Donovan Edwards became a starter after a fellow teammate was injured. Edwards stepped into 6 games as a starter at right tackle and he had a few heavy hits over the course of these games: two pancake tackles and two knockdowns were registered to his name by the completion of the season.
