Derrick Hill was born July 16, 1985. He grew up in Oakland, California and graduated in 2006 from McClymonds High School.
High school football left Derrick Hill as one of the most decorated recruits from the class of 2006. Rivals.com went so far as to consider him one of the top 50 players in the U.S. As example of this, take a look at his senior year stats: 105 tackles, 15.5 sacks and 45 tackles. These records speak for themselves!
Injury made Derrick Hill redshirt his 2006 freshman season. By 2007, he hit the ground running and made 24 tackles and one interception over the course of 11 games. He also made his first collegiate level sack.
In 2008, Derrick Hill started 9 of 13 games and ended the year with 29 tackles.
