David Aknin is back for the 2011 Pac-12 football season with the Cal Golden Bears. Aknin joined the Cal Bears in 2010, having to redshirt due to conference regulations, after playing at College of San Mateo Junior College.

At San Mateo, David Aknin was a first-team All-NorCal Conference running back in 2009 and led his team to the Northern California Junior College title. During his high school football career at Carimont High School, Aknin was named the MVP in San Mateo Country for his outstanding performance at running back and linebacker. Aknin also earned All-Conference honors in 2005 and was named All-Peninsula-Lake League for both positions in his final two years.
