Chris Conte was born on February 23, 1989 and hails from Los Angeles, California. He graduated in 2007 from Loyola High School. If this sounds familiar, it is because Cal Bears freshman, Brett Ackerman, also graduated from Loyola and briefly played high school ball with Chris Conte.

During his high school career, Chris Conte was considered by Rivals.com as the 21st-best safety in the U.S. He also had 58 tackles and 4 interceptions his senior year alone.

As a Cal Bears freshman in 2007, Chris Conte played in every game. He had am impressive 32 tackles which earned him honorable mention Freshman All-America honors. He even became a starter corner back late in the season and made more tackles than any other freshman since 2002.

The 2008 season brought a broken thumb and less playing time for Chris Conte though he had a chance to play in the all-important Emerald Bowl where he made 5 tackles.
