Charles Amadi hails from Fresno, California where he played high school football on the Edison High School football team. During his years at Edison, Charles Amadi played cornerback as a junior and running back as a senior, earning honors at both positions. He was also a track star and was the top-ranked high school triple jumper in the U.S. with a personal best of 49'2".

After red-shirting in 2006, Charles Amadi played in 2007 over the course of 5 games. He was placed on special teams. Unfortunately, an injury kept him off the field for the second half of the season.

In 2008, Charles Amadi played at corner back and defensive back as a starter. The team finished 4th in the Pac-10 that season.
