Walter A. Haas, Jr. was president and CEO of Levi-Strauss Company, and a 1937 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He was very generous in giving back to the school, and after donating $11 million for the construction of updating the former basketball venue, the school honored the donor by naming the facility the Walter A. Haas Pavilion.
Haas Pavilion sits in the middle of the University of California-Berkeley's sports facilities. It is a towering facility that looks on the outside more like an academic building than a sports arena. Over 11,800 fans can fit into the Haas Pavilion to catch home University of California-Berkeley basketball games. These games are usually boisterous and energy-charged as fans cheer on their blue and yellow and bear mascot.
